We are a law firm based in
Harrogate offering specialist advice on litigation; from debt collection to complex disputes involving individuals and businesses, large and small; from owner-operators to PLC’s. We act for clients nationwide. Dominic Hirst worked as a Commercial Litigation lawyer at a large firm in Leeds for many years before branching out to work exclusively for a private venture capital business managing turnaround, trouble, growth, and sales. After experiencing first hand the damage and disruption to cash flow, and time, that debts and disputes can inflict upon any business, Dominic established a legal practice that can help to take these pressures off managers and operators at minimal inconvenience and cost.
Without expensive offices and overheads, the Practice takes instructions by phone, email, or through the post, with site visits as necessary, for lower fees than most businesses usually expect from Solicitors. Acting for individuals, wholesalers, service providers, financial institutions, construction and IT businesses amongst many, many others, in our experience, most of our clients and business operators do not want to spend time tackling debts and disputes. As irritating and aggravating as such things are, they prefer to get on with their day-to-day businesses, trying to move forward in a difficult and competitive economy. Yet debt and disputes can be very destructive, dragging down profits, affecting cash flow, and even leading to issues that could cause the insolvency of an otherwise viable and successful business. For individuals, the consequences can be personally altogether more serious.
Far too many debtors play the late payment game, or put up arguments to 'buy time', putting pressure on the supplying business knowing that ‘good customers’ are hard to find and businesses are almost afraid to chase the payments they are entitled to through fear that the parties won’t do business again. ‘Going legal’ doesn’t mean the parties have to fall out and never do business again. It is this Practice’s goal to encourage the parties to arrange payment of debts &/or resolve their differences in the most agreeable and cost-effective way for both sides.
